mSakhi is an interactive, mobile phone–based, multimedia application (illustrations, sound, text, and health information animation) that provides critical maternal and newborn health information to ASHAs, who may have poor literacy skills and training. It also improves interpersonal communication between ASHAs and community members and assists with scheduling ASHAs’ postnatal home visits, improving both the quality and number of visits. Auxiliary nurse midwives (ANMs) can use mSakhi for real-time monitoring of ASHA activities. Content for this application is based on the National Rural Health Mission training manuals for AHSAs and guidelines from the Government of Uttar Pradesh on HBNC.
